A few good ones:
The Professor and The Madman. The true story of the making of The Oxford English Dictionary.

Life. Keith Richards' autobiography.

The Beer Trials. Ratings of beer based on blind taste tests.

Yes a Very interesting true story. Fun reading, except when he cuts his pecker off.

.....
Anyone read- Autobiography of a Yogi?
By Yogananda
Or
A Natural History of the Senses- D Ackerman?

I read Autobiography of a Yogi several years ago. I liked it a lot, but am kind of skeptical of what the author claims to have achieved. I've been practicing yoga/meditation for years, and have not come close to doing what he did. But, he is MUCH more disciplined.

Regarding your first choice, Simon Winchester the author, is someone to check out in depth. Krakatoa is a great place to go after The Professor and The Madman.

I made myself a note about Krakatoa. I'll get to it some day.

You mentioned your favorite book for the year. How about an all-time favorite? For me there are a few real standouts: Dracula, The Autobio. of Malcolm X and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

That is an unanswerable question, but I'll give you four I read about once every other year or so.

Tatham Mound by Piers Anthony

I, Claudius & Claudius the God by Robert Graves

The Civil War- Shelby Foote (just began reading again)
